Men get praised when they do things that women are expected to do thanklessly.

This is so true. I’ll give you an example from my life.

I don’t have kids, but whenever my nieces and nephews are around, they’re like my kids and I try to spend as much time with them as possible. I do stuff with them, and when I go out with one of them, I am literally fawned over and admired. People smile, sometimes they stop and commend me, and some women are really receptive to seeing me out and about with a kid. They all mean well, but it makes me uncomfortable. There is no doubt in my mind that they would not be fawning over a single mother out and about with a child or two in tow. Single dads are seen as responsible. They are pretty much rockstars. Some women will look at you as a catch. Single moms aren’t afforded that status.

This past summer, I took my nephew to the movies and 2 people actually stopped me to commend me for spending time with my son. He’s my nephew, but that’s not the point. Even if he was my son, why should a father get accolades for spending time with his child? That should be expected. I’ve never heard anyone say “It’s really great how you as a mother spend time with your kids.” Not once. Of course, I didn’t get nasty or rude with the people who stopped me. I said he was my nephew and exchanged some pleasantries. For a few moments, I thought about how messed up it is that merely going to the movies and buying popcorn with a kid was seen as this amazing thing where I needed to be told how great I was and commended for it. I thought I was going to watch a movie and eat popcorn with my nephew. I didn’t know that qualified me for being the humanitarian of the year.

It’s because some men walk away from the responsibility. They find out they have a child and disappear. Or, they stick around just to claim the child on their taxes like they’ve actually been taken care of the child.

Fiance fired from Alcoa today because “you weren’t supposed to be hired in the first place”. They said this after rechecking his vision. He got it corrected and they still fired him.

Aussie Builders surprise public with loud empowering statements in new Snickers Australia Ad.

"is this video saying that when builders (or just those who street harass women) become decent fucking human beings (not being misogynistic/sexist) when they are hungry and so they should eat snickers to go back ‘to being themselves’ i.e. being dick heads who street harass women????

(Please correct me if I understood this wrong but like come on snickers you had a chance to be cool and you blew it)” -YT Viewer
